A Compact Clamp Meter with Non-Contact Voltage Detector and Variable Frequency Control

The Extech MA63 is an AC/DC clampmeter with ±2% accuracy. This manual ranging clamp meter has three Current ranges. The 6000mA range allows for low current measurements that may be used in the automotive industry. The VFC (variable frequency control) mode helps troubleshoot and diagnose HVAC applications that are variable frequency driven.
The Extech MA63 measures both AC and DC Current and also measure AC/DC Voltage, Frequency, Resistance, Capacitance, Diode, and Continuity.

The Extech MA63 Mini Clamp Meter measure current in three AC ranges 600mA, 6000mA, and 60A and measures DC current in two ranges 6000mADC and 60ADC.

The clamp meters offer advanced features that includes NCV (non-contact voltage) detection and VFC (variable frequency control) that inserts a low pass filter in the measurement circuit.

True RMS Clampmeter with NCV Detector

It can be very difficult to make accurate current and voltage readings in industrial and commercial applications when electronic devices are present. Fluorescent lights, motor drives, computer power supplies, and other electronic systems can distort the AC waveform, making it hard for averaging meters to get an accurate read. True RMS uses a more advanced formula to adjust for this kind of distortion. One important safety tool that is built in to the MA1500 is a non-contact voltage (NCV) detector. The detector quickly identifies the presence of voltage on live wires and alerts the user with a red LED indicator. For you, this eliminates the need for a separate tester, offering you more value, added safety, and less tool bag clutter. The MA1500 amp clamp has a CAT IV-600-volt overvoltage safety rating.

Other Features

The bright 5-digit, 40,000/4,000 count backlit display is complemented by several one-button functions including data hold, min/max, and two current ranges: 400 amp and 1500 amp. In addition, the jumbo 52mm jaw opening handles conductors up to 500 MCM. Besides electrical and electronic testing, you can capture temperature measurements using the Type K wire probe.

Extech EX840 Overview

The EX840 amp clamp has a CAT IV-600-volt, CAT III-1000V overvoltage safety rating and is CE and ETL approved. In addition to being able to take temperature measurements using the Type K wire probe, the EX840 enables users to take safe, point-and-shoot, non-contact temperature measurements with an integrated infrared (IR) thermometer that packs a useful 8:1 distance ratio. That means that at a safe distance of 8 inches users are getting a temperature reading focused on a tight, one-inch spot. The built-in IR thermometer makes it easier for users to identify overheating motors, stressed bearings, overloaded electrical panels, abnormal vent temperatures, and other components from a distance — and without an additional meter.

Other Features

The bright 4-digit, 4,000 count backlit display is complemented by several one-button functions including Data Hold, Min/Max, and selectable auto- or manual-ranging. The large 43mm jaw opening handles conductors up to 750 MCM or multiple conductors such as two 500 MCM.

Get more done with the Extech EX623 5-In-1 Clampmeter.

The versatile Extech EX623 5-in-1 clamp meter was specifically designed for plant, HVAC/R, and electrical professionals in commercial, institutional, and industrial settings. No other clamp meter offers the convenience and versatility of five meters in one tool.

Functional Overview

A robust 400A AC/DC “amp clamp” meter offers current load readings quickly on AC systems as well as DC systems like industrial DC motors, automotive, heavy equipment, and marine applications. An advanced, True RMS Multimeter, offers comprehensive functions for extensive troubleshooting and True RMS accuracy for measuring signals distorted by motor drives, motor controls, power supplies, and other electronic systems. An exclusive built-in infrared thermometer is ideal for quickly identifying overheating motors or locating hot spots on electrical panels, or HVAC vents without contact. A non-contact voltage detector allows yoiu to quickly and conveniently check for voltage prior to attaching the multimeter’s test leads to the device under test. A dual-input Type-K thermometer lets you get readings from two sources and calculate Delta-T with a push of a button. DMM functions include AC/DC Voltage & Current (including DC µA), Resistance, Capacitance, Frequency, Duty Cycle, and Diode/Continuity 40,000 count display.

Feature-Rich Design

Extech’s 5-in-1 clamp meter is a smart tool and a smart buy for maintenance professionals. For troubleshooting both new installations and preventive/ongoing maintenance and repairs, the EX623 accurately measures AC and DC current, voltage, and temperatures. The EX623’s infrared thermometer and laser pointer make point-and-shoot temperature readings simpler and safer. And, having two Type K thermocouple inputs makes differential temperature (delta-T) calculations like superheat and sub-cooling measurements easier to perform. For furnace and boiler maintenance flame rod current measurements, the DC microamp function is a handy surprise. The EX623’s generous 36mm jaw opening handles large conductors – up to 500MCM. The EX623 makes users’ everyday installation, diagnostic, and maintenance tasks simpler and easier – and with less toolbelt/toolbox clutter. Extech has been on the leading edge of the trend toward multifunctional instruments for several years, adding infrared thermometer capabilities into a broad range of testers and meters. Extech’s remarkable EX623 combines multiple relevant functions in one tool so technicians get more while spending less. For example, a plant professional can opt for an Extech EX623 5-in-1 clamp meter instead of buying a clamp meter plus numerous other test tools. The EX623 was designed using customer feedback – users increasingly demand multi-function capabilities in one device with no compromises.

Other Features

Powered by a 9V battery, the device has an optional Auto Power Off function to conserve battery life. The Extech EX623 5-in-1 clamp meter includes: CAT III-600V double-molded test leads; a 9V battery, two general purpose Type K bead wire probes; a durable soft case with belt loop; and a user manual.

Key Functionality of the Extech 380941

The 200A AC rating with 100mA resolution and 40A DC rating with 10mA (DC) resolution is optimized for finding problems where very low current variances would be missed by standard clamp meters. The meter doubles as a DMM with added resistance and frequency functions. Whether you are checking amp draws on commercial electrical circuits or troubleshooting relays on vehicle air conditioning systems, the go-anywhere 23mm jaw opening is compact enough to fit in tight locations. The 4-digit (4,000 count) readout is easy to read and a 40 segment bargraph helps simulate an analog display, better illustrating swings in readings. The Data Hold function freezes the display while the Min/Max function tracks and displays minimum and maximum values – useful for blind measurements and start-up draw. The zero function makes it easy to perform relative measurements.

The Exteche EX845 provides TRMS AC/DC Current & Voltage measurements upto 1000A and 1000V respectively and has a built-in non-contact IR Thermometer with a laser pointer that is capable of measuring upto 270C. However the real benefit of the Extech EX845 is the Bluetooth transmitter with MeterLink technology that allows this clamp meter to wirelessly communicate with a wide range of Flir Thermal Imaging Cameras including the new E-Series. Valuable voltage and current readings can be wirelessly transmitted to a Flir infrared camera and be integrated with the thermal images to provide a comprehensive overview of an electrical system.

A Flir IR camera can quickly identify problems on electrical systems and provide infrared images which clearly locate the specific component with the fault. Using MeterLink the Extech EX845 allows a thermographer to quickly take an electrical readings on the faulty component and instantly record them on the thermal image they have just taken. In addition the EX845 clampmeter has a CAT IV 600V safety rating for added protection and making it suitable for industrial applications. The EX845 jaw opening size of 43mm will fit conductors up to 750MCM or two 500MCM. The TRMS feature ensures highly accurate readings of non-sinusoidal waveforms and the peak hold function can be used to capture inrush currents and Transients.
