How to use Reed Paint Thickness Gauges (CM-8822)

Measurement Procedures
Plug in the F-probe or NF-probe according to the measured body. Press the power key to switch on the power and ‘0’ shows up on the Display. The meter will auto-calibrate itself when you switch on the power supply and the gauge will recognize the probe type itself , with the symbol F or NF indicating on the Display. Select the measurement unit by pressing the soft key. Place the probe on a coating layer to be measured. The reading on the Display is the thickness of the coating layer. The reading can be corrected by pressing the plus key or minus key while the probe is away from the iron substrate or the measured body. To take the next measurement, just lift the probe to more than 1 centimeter and then repeat the step above. If you suspect the accuracy of measurement, you should calibrate before taking the measurement. The gauge can be switch off by pressing the Power key. On the other side, the gauge will power itself off 2 minutes after the last operation.

How to use Reed R8001 Laser Distance Meter

Measuring Range
Reed R8001’s measuring range is limited to 50m. To increase the measurement range during daylight or if the target has poor reflection properties you can use a target plate.

Reference Level Settings
Press the “Reference” button to take the selection from the top of the instrument. A special beep sounds whenever the reference setting is changed.

Distance Unit Settings
To change the unit of measurements just hold down the “Backlight/Unit” button for a few seconds and toggle between all units of measure. You can choose between m, ft, in, and ft + in.

Single Distance Measurements
Firstly, you have to activate the laser by pressing “the On/Measure” button. Now trigger the dsitance measurement by pressing the button again. The measured value will be displayed immediately.

Continuous (Tracking)/Max & Min Measurement
For example, the user can move from a wall to the required distance, while the actual distance can be read continuously. To activate this function press the Max/Min button until the indicator for continuous measurements appears on the display. Press it again or press the On/Measure button to stop the function. The function is terminated after 100 continuous measurements.

Addition/Subtraction
Press the “Plus button” to add the current measurement to the previous measurement. Press the “On/Measure” button to add the second measured value; the result will automatically display. Press the “Minus” button to subtract the current measurement from the previous measurement. Press the “On/Measure” button for the result to be shown in the summary line and the previous measurement will be shown in the second line. Press the “Clear” button for the last step to be cancelled. Press the “Max/Mi”n button to return to single distance measurement mode.

With this Laser Distance Meter you can automatically calculate the area/surface and the results will be displayed in the summary line on the display. Press the “Area/Volume” button once to enter Area Measurement mode. Start making the first measurement ( for length) by pressing the “On/Measure” button. Press the On/Measure button again to take the second measurement (width). Now the instrument will calculate the area automatically and display the summary lint on the display.

Volume Measurement
Press the Area/Volume button twice to enter Area Measurement mode. Press the On/Measure button to take the first measurement (length), press the On/Measure button again to take the second measurement (width), press the On/Measure button again to take the third measurement (height). Then the volume is automatically calculated and displayed in the summary line on the display.

Indirect Measurement
This is used to determine a distance using two auxiliary measurements. Press the Indirect Measurement button once, the icon will appear on the display. Aim at the highest point and press the On/Measure button to take the measurement. Holding the instrument as horizontal as possible press and hold the On/Measure button to trigger continuous measurement, the horizontal line is measured and shown in the summary and secondary lines.

Three Point Measurement
Press the Indirect Measurement button twice, the icon will appear on the display. Aim at the highest point (1) and press the On/Measure button to trigger the measurement. Holding the instrument as horizontal as possible press and hold the On/Measure button to trigger continuous measurement and sweep the laser up and down over the ideal target point (2), press the On/Measure button again to confirm the value. Aim at the lower point (3) and press the On/Measure button to trigger the measurement. The results are shown in the summary and secondary lines at the same time.
