The Reed ST-156 Coating Thickness Meter is suitable for the following applications: Inspection of paint thickness, Automotive Industry, Plating Thickness, General Industrial, Manufacturing. Thanks to its Dual technology REED ST-156 Coating Meter provides automatic recognition for ferrous (F) and non-ferrous (NF) metal substrates. Reed ST-156 has capability to save up to 80 readings in 4 different slots, displays statistics (average, minim, maxim values of measurements or standard deviation) and has capability to measure in continuous or single mode.
REED ST-156 can be connected to a personal computer and using the dedicated software ( included) can generate graph or export data to Excel for further data analysis.

How to use Reed ST-156 Coating Thickness Gauge

Continuous Measuring Mode
In Continuous Mode, the probe is not lifted off the surface being measured. Readings are not accompanied by a beep. All readings taken in this mode are automatically entered into the statistics program as long as sufficient memory is available.

Single Measuring Mode
In Single Mode, the probe is lifted off the surface being measured and moved. Readings are accompanied by a beep. All readings taken in this mode are automatically entered into the statistics program as long as sufficient memory is available.

Probe Operating
The probe can work in three modes:
AUTO: The probe can automatically select the working mode. When placed on steel (magnetic substrates), it will work in magnetic induction principle. When placed on no-ferrous metals, it will work in eddy current principle.
Fe: The probe works in magnetic induction principle.
No-Fe: The probe works in eddy current principle.

Statistic View
While in the Menu, choose “Statistic View” to toggle between Average, Maximum, Minimum and Standard Deviation functions. Press the Red Bar Button to select the current Statistic View and to return to measurement mode. A corresponding symbol of the Statistic View will be displayed on the lower right of the LCD. At the same time, the statistic number of the measured readings will display on the lower left of the LCD. Via the “Statistic View” in the Menu, you can look through all statistic values for a current group.

How to use Reed TM-8811 Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge

With the Reed TM-8811Ultrasonic Gauge turned on, select the correct unit of measure by pressing the mm/inch button. Place the Ultrasonic sensor on the material surface being measured. Select the correct Material selection code and verify the coupling is okay by verifying that the Coupling indicator symbol is on. The reading on the display is the measurement value. The reading will be held until a new measurement is taken or until the unit is turned off.

To select the Sound velocity code, simply continue pressing the Plus or Minus buttons until you see a 4-digit number in the display. The 4-digit number represents the last sound velocity measurement taken. When selecting this velocity, you can measure the thickness of the same material as the last.

Measuring Sound Velocity – Press the “VEL” button and the display will show the last velocity measurement.
