The Extech EA30 EasyView Big Digit, Wide Range Light Meter
The Extech EA30 measures up to 40,000 foot-candles in four ranges and 400,000 lux in five ranges with ±3 percent accuracy, making it ideal for outdoor use. This light meter features a compact and rugged design with a large display and analogue bargraph to view trends.

Additional Features
Peak mode captures short light pulses to 100µs; and Relative function zeroes the sensor or can be used to display the difference from a reference value. Also has data hold, min/max, and auto power off functions.

What Is a Light Meter?
A light meter measures the amount of visible light, also known as illumination, in a given area. For many meter brands, including Extech, illumination is expressed in units of measure called Lux (for metric) and foot-candles (used in the US). To use an Extech light meter, the sensor is placed on a tabletop or other surface in the area to be measured and the light level reading is indicated on the meter’s display.

Elapsed Timer with Hold

In this mode, measurements are made while the countdown timer is running. When the timer reaches zero, the last measurement is held on the display

Stray Light Inhibit

This feature allows the user to measure light from one source while automatically factoring out the light from a secondary (stray) unwanted source.

Integral Illuminance Mode

Integral Illuminance is a luminous energy measurement based on the rate of flow of flux (expressed in lumen-seconds). The Model EA33 can also measure any photometric quantity on a time dependent basis. For example, the illuminance could be integrated over time to yield lux-hours (lx-h) or foot candle-hours (fc-h).

This model is very useful in warehouses, factories, office buildings, restaurants, hospitals, stadiums and building security.

Product Description

3-3/4 digit backlit LCD with maximum reading 3999.

3 products in one design; UV Power, Solar Power and Illumination measurements.

USB data-logging capacity: 45,000 records.

Real time clock with calendar.

Relative (Rel) function and Zero adjustment.

Application

UVA: Highly reliable reading instrument designed expressly for measuring light intensity at the wafer plane of mask aligners. UV curing light sources, and any other UV light source.

Solar Power Features: Accuracy ±3% at 1000 Watts/m2. Used in Solar Power research, physics and optical labs. Just point the calibrated PV cell at the sun and read the irradiance in Watts/m2 or Btu/ft2h. and is great for those who test PV modules or arrays in the field.

Illumination Features: According to JISC 1609: 1993 and CNS 5119 general A class specification. Spectral response close to CIE luminous spectral efficiency. Measure intensities of illumination in Lux or Foot-candle. Uses Silicon photodiode and filter. Cosine angular corrected

Before sarts any light measurements, you should zero the light sensor prior to use in a dark environment. To achieve this, place the light sensor end of the meter under a desktop or flat surface to block any light. Pressing the “Unit/Zero Button” will set set the Lux Meter indication to zero. It is recommended that the zero be checked frequently using the above procedure.

Hold Function
To activate the Hold function pressing the “Hold Button”. Now the current value of the light measurement will freeze and “HOLD” symbol will show on the display. To cancel this function, ress again the “Hold button”.

Data Record
Start the Data Record function by pressing the “Max./Min. Button” once and the “REC” symbol will be shown on the display. Press the “ Max./Min. Button “ once and the “Max” symbol along with the maximum value will appear on the display. Press the “Max./Min.
