The SEW 6280TB is designed for field or workshop use and can test a wide range of instrumentation. The control panel on the SEW 6280TB is divided into three sections with each function having its own section.

To operate the test box, the user simply plugs the power cable of the SEW 6280TB into a standard power outlet and plugs the instrument to be tested into the SEW 6280TB.

The image shows a "multifunction" power socket on the instrument but all instruments delivered in Australia will be fitted with the correct 3 pin Australian socket.

The SEW 6280TB Calibration Test Box is used for checking the integrity and calibration of insulation resistance testers, loop impedance testers and RCD testers, as well as multifunction electrical testers, which may have all three functions in one instrument. The SEW 6280 TB comes in a hard case for protection in the field.

For RCD tester verification, the SEW 6280 TB can simulate a 10mA, 30mA and 150mA RCD with trip times of 150ms or 30ms (in the case of a 150mA simulation). Loop impedance is checked by plugging the meter being tested into the loop tester section of the test box and operating the meter being tested. The bi-directional switch on the SEW 6280TB allows the operator to measure the local supply loop, and then by changing the switch the test box can simulate a loop impedance value (supply loop + 1 Ohm) to verify the accuracy of the loop impedance tester being checked. Finally the SEW 6280TB can check insulation resistance testers, in both insulation resistance mode as well as continuity mode with a number of pre-set values and test voltages.

The Extech 412440-S current loop checker is a handheld battery operated device that provides a quick and easy simulated output of 4mA, 12mA, and 20mA for use in testing process loops and calibrating instruments. Also, it is the ideal device to set up indicating ranges on panel meters and controllers.

Operation
Plug the 60-inch coiled calibration cable into the checker and connect the spade lugs to the device under test. Using the calibrator's push button, select the desired calibration point and check the device under test for proper display or other desired response. If the device under test responds within specification, then it can be considered in proper calibration. If the device under test does not respond within specification, calibration of the device is required.

Bright red LEDs indicate the simulation output or the battery status. The Extech 412440-S current loop checker is accurate to 0.1mA, and there is overload indication when the load exceeds 240Ω. The compact case features a push button output selector switch.

Precision source for calibrating process devices and measuring DC process signals

Extech 412300A allows you to measure and source current readings simultaneously whivh can be beneficial to a many people who regularly complete jobs involving measuring current. The Extech 412300A Current Calibrator/Meter is an oyster flip device made easier to use by its ability to be stood up on a bench or workspace.

For added ease of use coupled with the oyster flip case of this measuring current device, it also comes with a detachable strap that can be hung around your neck leaving you completely hands free to undertake other tasks at the same time.

Extech 412300A has also been programmed with five preset calibration values for fast calibration calculations in the field for efficient working.

The memory feature provides the user with five (5) user programmable source values for stepped calibration outputs. The feature is available for mA and % units in the SOURCE mode. The stored values are kept in non-volatile memory (memory that is retained even after power is removed from the calibrator).

Source from the stored memory values: 1. Select the Source mode as described earlier 2. Press the MEM button. The M1 icon (memory location 1) will appear in the display and the value stored in that location will be displayed and sourced. 3. Repeated pressing of the MEM button will step through the 5 memory locations. NOTE: The “SOURCE” icon will blink when the output value has not reached a stable level. The common cause for the “SOURCE” icon to remain blinking is that the load impedance is too high in the current mode.

Storing values into memory: 1. As described above, select and display a memory location (M1, 2, 3, 4, or 5) 2. Use the ▲ ▼buttons to adjust the display to the desired source value. 3. Press and hold the MEM button for > 2 seconds. The displayed value will be stored in the displayed memory location. Default memory values. Five common source values are permanently programmed in memory as the default values. These values can be replaced by user selected values.

To reset the meter to the default memory values: 1. Turn the meter on and select the SOURCE mode. 2. Press and hold the POWER button until appears in the display and then release the POWER button. The memory locations will revert to the default values. Default Memory Values M1 M2 M3 M4 M5 are 4mA, 8mA, 12mA, 16mA, 20mA (0% 25% 50% 75% 100%).

Precision “source” for calibrating process devices.

Applications include:

• Process devices calibration and simulation

– Transducers

– Transmitters

– Indicators

– Controllers

– Recorders

• Field test and service

• Bench research/development

Tilt Stand / Hanger

The rear stand is provides two methods for convenience in viewing. 1. Pull the bottom portion of the stand out to place the unit on a flat surface for viewing. 2. Pull the bottom and top portions of the stand out, and then rotate the stand to allow the unit to be hung.

Battery Replacement

When the battery icon appears on the display, the six AA batteries must be replaced. The battery compartment is located on the rear of the meter. 1. Open the tilt stand, loosen the captive Philips head screw and remove the battery cover. 2. Remove and replace the batteries, observing polarity. 3. Replace and secure the battery cover.
